The unfortunate truth about owning a car is that even the safest driver is not perfect. There is inevitably going to be a time when your ride, no matter how cautious you are, is going to get scratched. This is an incredibly frustrating truth, and it can be very annoying to have to drive around with a scratched ride. However, there is a plus side to this event. With scratches, unlike a lot of other issues your car could face, you do not have to surrender yourself to expensive auto body shop repair prices and can actually easily fix the problem yourself.
Here are a few ways you can fix scratches on your car. However, it should be noted that some very deep scratches may still require a visit to a professional service in order to get them fully and flawlessly fixed. Here are some ways you can fix car scratches on your own:
A Scratch Repair Kit
If your car is scratched and it is not too deep, you can get away with using a simple scratch repair kit. These standard kits are convenient to use and are available at nearly every auto supply store. These kits come with everything you will need to fill and fix small scratches. However, if you are dealing with a more intense, or deep scratch there are other, better options out there for you to try.
A Glazing Putty
Great for deep scratches, glazing putty can help fill these deep wounds on your car. Available at nearly all auto body shops, these repair kits come with what is needed to fill the deep scratch with glazing putty. This is great for gouges that leave you able to see bare metal underneath.
Paint Over Scratches
Whether it is a repair kit you used or glazing putty, you will eventually need to touch up the paint job in order to completely due away with your car’s deep gouges or even smaller scratches. This can often be done with some simple touch-up paint and does not necessarily require the hand of a professional.
